CONGRATULATIONS JENSON, FROM ALL AT F1 ROCKS

18th October 2009

In his ninth year in Formula 1, Jenson Button has finally achieved his lifetime dream of becoming world champion at today’s 2009 Brazilian Grand Prix.

The 29-year old driver started from 14th but drove one of the races of his career to finish fifth, securing him the title in the process.

“It’s really amazing… my voice has gone!” croaked the overwhelmed Brawn GP star who won six of the first seven races of the season.

“After the last few races, this one makes up for it. It was awesome. I’m world champion, baby. That race deserves it. Twenty-one years ago, I jumped into a kart and I loved winning – but I never expected to be world champion.”

Star of the F1 Rocks Singapore Live with LG TV spectacular, Red Bull’s Mark Webber, took first place marking his second win of the season, with BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica and now former world champ Lewis Hamilton finishing second and third respectively.

However, fellow F1 Rocks participant, Force India’s Adrian Sutil found out the hard way that Hell hath no fury like an angry Toyota driver, when Jarno Trulli engaged the German driver in some serious finger pointing after a first lap collision. We certainly don’t remember No Doubt‘s Gwen Stefani reacting in such an aggressive manner when Sutil and the singer went head to head in the F1 Rocks remote control car Grand Prix back in Singapore last month (see below).

Anyway, back to Button and again huge congratulations. We’re already planning a number of F1 Rocks events for 2010 and, as reigning world champion, you and the lovely Miss Michibata will be more than welcome backstage at all of them.
