SPECTACULAR START TO F1 ROCKS - THURSDAY NIGHT
25th September 2009
F1 Rocks™ Singapore with LG, the first ever F1 Rocks concert, kicked off with a dazzling display of Asian talent last night.
Following a press frenzy during the day, surrounding the arrival in Singapore of F1 Rocks entertainment TV show host Lindsay Lohan, the eagerly awaited first of three stunning concerts opened to a huge crowd at the city’s serene Fort Canning Park.

First on stage were Taiwan hip hop troupe Da Mouth who spared no expense on costumes or stage props, enlisting the help on stage of not one but two Chinese dragons and a battery of traditional drummers.

Next up we’re fellow countrymen Sodagreen, who’s sharp dressed indie stage presence drew admiring glances from the female contingent of the audience, while boys in the crowd quickly adjusted their hairstyles to match their elevated competition.

A-Mei’s reinvention as a new rock goddess was sealed this evening, when the multi-million selling singer gave a devil horn gesture to the amassed photographers before taking to the stage to a sea of adoring fans. Surprise track of the night, and a nod to the hundreds of British F1 fans packing the park, was her unique take on Brit indie trio Keane’s hit, ‘Somewhere Only We Know’.

Anticipation reached fever pitch by the time Jacky Cheung took to the stage around 10pm. The crowd was literally stunned by the Chinese pop god’s entrance and breathtaking lightshow, which at one point was switched to resemble the nave of a towering psychedelic cathedral. When the global star rolled out his signature ballads, the audience sang along in unison with mobile phones and lighters held aloft, illuminating the assembled masses in a radiant glow.
