BEPS WIN BIG AT AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS
23rd November 2009
The Black Eyed Peas triumphed at the 2009 American Music Awards last night (Sunday 22nd November), picking up the prestigious award for favourite group and performing a breathtaking medley of their hits.
The quartet, who saw off competition from Kings of Leon and Nickelback, was recognised for their record breaking achievement of holding the US number 1 spot for over six months with their hits, ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘I Gotta a Feeling’.
Appearing live at the star studded event in their hometown of Los Angeles, the stars of F1 ROCKS™ Singapore with LG began their performance with a club friendly take on their recent UK number 1, ‘Meet Me Halfway’, with Will.I.Am sporting a rhinestone coat and an Elvis wig.
Following an athletic vocal solo from Fergie, the band broke into a high octane reworking of ‘Boom Boom Pow’, which incorporated a brief interlude into the unmistakeable riff to Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.
At the tail end of their set Will reminded the crowd that 2009 had been the year of the Peas, shouting, “Six months #1! The new kings!”
