BEPs TOP UK CHARTS
16th November 2009
Congratulations to F1 ROCKS™ Singapore with LG stars, The Black Eyed Peas, who scored a UK number 1 single on Sunday (15th November) with their track, ‘Meet Me Halfway’.
Selling over 15,000 copies of the song, the BEPs saw off competition from X-Factor winner, Leona Lewis, who was hoping to score her fourth consecutive chart topper with, ‘Happy’.
The LA based band’s achievement marked will.i.am out as the most successful producer currently in the UK albums and singles charts. The star was the man behind the mixing desk on Cheryl Cole’s former number 1, ‘Fight For This Love’, and also produced his own band’s current hit.
In other BEPs news, ex-Guns n’ Roses guitarist Slash has teamed up with Peas singer Fergie on a new version of his former band’s hit ‘Paradise City’.
The guitarist, who also enlisted Cypress Hill to perform on the track, said on a recent Twitter post: “Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing rock n roll but she sings it better than most dudes I know. She’s a screamer at heart.”
Fergie’s take on the GnR classic features on the b-side of a single Slash recently released in Japan. However, the track may well resurface on his upcoming new album, ‘Slash & Friends’, which is due to hit the shops in early 2010.
