ZZ TOP Facts 1

• #1 The name ZZ Top was derived from blues guitar master, B.B. King. They felt ZZ King was too literal and equate the King with the Top.
• #2 The only member of ZZ Top without the trademark chest-length beard is the ironically named drummer, Frank Beard.
• #3 In 1984, Gibbons and Hill refused $1million each to shave their beards for a Gillette TV ad, stating: “We’re too ugly without ‘em”.
• #4 Gibbons claims he plays guitar with a peso coin and it’s rumoured that the band use melted-down Cadillac fenders for guitar strings.
• #5 The ZZ Top official fan club is called Club Tacos Al Cabron.
