Wolfmother

Five things you should know about Wolfmother

Having originally formed in 2000, Wolfmother moved from Sydney to Los Angeles in 2005, where they laid down tracks at Cherokee Studios, recording facility of F1 Rocks Melbourne headliner, Lenny Kravitz.

Woman, the lead number from the then trio’s 2006 self-titled debut album, landed the band the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. The award marked the first time an Australian band had won a Grammy in 25 years.

The album went on to shift 1.3 million copies, with the track, Love Train featuring in an iPod commercial and Joker & The Thief soundtracking The Hangover and Shrek the Third.

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke claimed to be a fan of the band in an interview with Mojo magazine, while Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich described their debut album as “awesome”.

Wolfmother’s long awaited as yet untitled third album is set for an imminent release and was recently referred to by the band as “one beastly sounding record”.
