Kravitz attended Beverly Hills High School, where he counted former Guns N’ Roses guitars, Slash, amongst his classmates. Slash later appeared on Kravitz’s single, Always on the Run.

In 1990 Kravitz co-wrote Justify My Love for Madonna. The track hit the US number 1 slot after MTV banned the saucy song’s video for being too racy.

Kravitz holds the record for the most wins in the Best Male Rock Vocal category at the Grammy Awards. He scooped the gong every year between 1999 and 2002 and has been nominated for the prize a further three times.

Released in 2000, Kravitz’s Greatest Hits album sold nearly 11 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the biggest selling albums of the decade.

Kravitz received the ultimate accolade in 2002, when he was immortalised in The Simpsons episode, How I Spent My Strummer Vacation
