Italian dance and electronica veterans Planet Funk have just been announced as the opening act for Jamiroquai at F1 Rocks Monza.
The five-piece first rose to prominence in 2001 when their debut single, ‘Chase the Sun’, reached number five on the UK Singles Chart.
Adopted internationally by Sky Sports, the song still lives on as a football chant – belted out by supporters of Sheffield Wednesday in the UK and the Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United in Australia amongst others.
In a continuation of their sporting success, the band’s 2007 single, ‘Static’, also ended up soundtracking video game, FIFA 08.
Planet Funk will be appearing in support of their latest hit single, ‘Another Sunrise’ (see below), and forthcoming fourth album, ‘The Great Shake’.
Founder member Alex Neri is set to open the evening’s proceedings with a DJ set ahead of the band’s performance.
