After months of speculation Metallica have finally announced that they will play their first ever show in India at F1 Rocks in India with Vladivar.
Arguably the world’s biggest metal band, the San Francisco four-piece will play a one-off headline show at Leisure Valley Ground, Sector 29, Gurgaon, New Delhi on Friday 28th October 2011.
This momentous metal show will be staged alongside the first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix in India and F1 Rocks’ first event in the Sub Continent.
Ahead of today’s announcement Metallica said: “We are so excited to be playing a show in a place we never thought in our wildest dreams we’d get to play. It’s an honour for all of us that we get to be a part of that whole music scene as a metal band sharing our music with fans in India at this incredible concert!”
In addition, MTV India will be broadcasting the show as well as four 30-minute episodes of a documentary-style reality show that will chart the search for a support band for the metal giants. Viewers will also be able to participate online with additional exclusive content made available and the opportunity to predict who they think will win the contest, with each correct answer getting a chance to win tickets to the show.
Robert Montague CEO of F1 Rocks said: “We are very pleased to announce Metallica as our headlining artist at the first F1 Rocks in India with Vladivar event… It will be a spectacular weekend of fast cars, style, celebrity, glamour and very loud music.”
John Simidian, Executive Producer of 1 Rocks added: “It is Metallica’s first ever show in India, coinciding with India’s first ever Grand Prix – an amazing double bill! Seeing 30,000 Indian fans bounce to one of the world’s biggest rock bands is going to be a highlight for F1 Rocks in India with Vladivar.”
