After weeks of speculation, it has finally been confirmed that N*E*R*D will be the main support for Eminem at the rap superstar’s first ever show in South America. Also appearing on this stellar bill of hip hop talent will be Marcelo D2 – the rapper Will.I.Am calls the ‘Brazilian Jay Z’.
Fresh from appearing alongside Gorillaz on their US arena tour, N*E*R*D will be jetting into São Paulo in support of their long awaited fourth album, Nothing.
N*E*R*D founder members Pharrell Williams and ChadHugo were originally known as The Neptunes: the production team behind, amongst others, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Snoop Dogg.
Under the name N*E*R*D (short for No-one Ever Really Dies), the quartet has since gone on to produce some of the most cutting edge dance music of the past 10 years, including huge global hits with the singles Lapdance, Rock Star and Everyone Nose (All the Girls Standing in the Line for the Bathroom).
Opening this historical concert will be Brazil’s own hip hop megastar, Marcelo D2, whose second solo album, 2003′s Looking For The Perfect Beat, picked up no less than five Brazilian MTV awards.
The former Planet Hemp front man should be more than comfortable appearing in front of a crowd the size of Eminem‘s, having appeared at the Brazilian leg of Live Earth concert in 2007 to an audience of over 400,000.
